College transition 101

Everyone needs help sooner or later. If you feel lost in any of your classes, get help now.

Here are three reasons why you should get help:

• Your education is not free. You or your parents or someone is paying for your tuition.
• You only earn credit for the courses you complete with a passing grade. If you fail it or have to drop it then you have lost money and time.  If you drop too many they won’t like it.
• Failed courses will plague you. The failing grade will stay on your transcript.

Here are 6 ways to get academic help at college:

• Your professor will have suggestions on how to study or where to find more help.
• Check bulletin boards to find a tutor for your subject.
• The department office will have a list of tutors.
• The Office of Disabilities Student Services will have suggestions.
• An academic support office will help you with academic challenges.
• The university will offer workshops addressing specific study strategies. Look for the announcements.

This is the perfect time in the semester to get help. Do it.
