- Sweep through chapter page by page, again and read whatever catches your eye.
- Sweep through chapter and look for chapter format: chapter objectives, vocabulary, case studies, section reviews, sample questions, chapter summary. Read Bold Print Section Titles.
- Read Table of Contents, word for word. TOC located at the front of the book. There are two TOC, the brief one and the long one with all the subheadings. Read the long one.
- Read chapter summary, recap, review word for word.
- Read course objectives and lecture calendar from syllabus. Connect these ideas with the chapter.
- Go to class lecture and take notes. Ask professor which part of the chapter you should focus on.
- Read chapter sections that were indicated by the professor’s lecture.
- Read entire chapter word for word only if
- The topic fascinates you.
- The professor said everything in this chapter will be on the exam.
- If the professor’s lecture touched on all the major bold print headings of the chapter.
