You need an academic coach!

Every semester I gain keener insight to the struggles students with ADHD or LD face in college.  Today I read a blog written by a young man facing the “finals crisis.” Read the blog for yourself here: This guy needs a coach.  In this blog this young man describes his dilemma:  finals, anxiety attacks and ADD. He isn’t managing his meds and he doesn’t seem to have a system. He needs a coach. Like me.

My students and I meet twice a week. Our sessions evolve around three strands: Organization, Study Strategies and Motivation. Most of my students with ADHD know how to learn the material if they can just manage their mental energy and find their notes. Regular, consistent follow through with their academic coach gives the student with ADHD, the structure s/he needs to face finals and meet their academic goals.
